Exercises

Small talk has a job: five moments

Each moment describes only what you could see and hear. In the first three, pick out what you observed, then decide what it supports. In the last two, pick every reply that offers a thread and lets the other person decide how far the talk goes. A short answer is information about that moment, not a verdict.
